Vintage Aircraft
I've done so many wheels over the years...cars, boats, military vehicles, big rigs, firetrucks, and more. But some of my most memorable projects have been for vintage aircraft.
Maybe because we see fewer of them in the shop--making each one that much more special--or perhaps it's because my father worked at Brewster Aeronautical building Corsairs during WWII, there is something stirring and romantic about helping someone to bring these beautiful machines back.
One of my proudest moments was unveiling the restored control wheels for the B-25 that Howard Hughes converted into his executive plane and flew from 1952-1957. Restoring pieces of history like these comes with a feeling that's hard to describe.
I've done wheels for a number of other vintage aircraft, including PBY's, Wacos (one of which flew U-boat missions for the Civil Air Patrol during WWII), and more.
I'm always delighted to hear from someone restoring an airplane. If you've got a project underway, contact me.
